Residential Care Facility
Our residential care facilities provide supportive and skill-building services to adults with functional limitations caused by chronic mental illness, intellectual disability or medical conditions. Services include 24-hour staffing, medication management, on-site visits by the psychiatrist, transportation to local medical appointments, on-site and community activities and skill building.
Following a mental health crisis, an individual may not be ready to re-enter a community setting. A RCF may help the individual prepare for more independent living. The individual will receive help on setting up goals to be accomplished during their stay and assessing what supports may be needed when they go back to the community. They may be learning how to better manage their health and practicing skills needed for their recovery journey. An individual will learn more about their diagnoses, how different conditions or symptoms manifest and how they affect different aspects of a person’s wellness. This information helps the person and their team develop and individualize their crisis plan. An emphasis will be placed on behavior modification, teaching individuals healthy ways of coping with mental illness symptoms and walking alongside them while they practice those safe and healthy coping skills. As recovery varies with each person and is individualized, a person may be at our RCF 3-6 months.
What to Expect
Individuals have daily interaction with direct support staff and frequently meet with their Service Coordinator to discuss progress, goals and discharge planning. There are skill building groups daily and staff there to help with daily living tasks. Individuals choose from different options of community integration as well as scheduled activities on site. Each individual has their own room to retreat to, designed to be aesthetically calming. There are laundry facilities on site free of use. Although staff cook all meals, individuals also choose to participate in cooking and baking opportunities. Individuals may receive assistance with financial guidance and payeeship as needed. All support provided helps promote more independence for transitioning to their own home in the community.
