Intensive Residential Services (IRS)

The purpose of intensive residential services is to serve adults with the most severe and persistent mental illness conditions who have functional impairments and may also have multi-occurring conditions. Intensive residential services provide intensive 24-hour supervision, behavioral health services, and other supportive services in a community-based residential setting. Individuals eligible for IRS haven’t been successful in any less restrictive setting and have been assessed to require 24 hour supervision. IRS is provided in a home within the community, serving no more than 5 individuals within the home and staff ratio of at least 1 staff to 2.5 clients. The low staff to client ratio ensures the needs of the individual are met. The goal is for individuals in the IRS program to practice skills to better manage mental and behavioral health and to progress to a less restrictive community setting.

For individuals that may spend an extended amount of time in hospitals or institutions due to the amount of structure that they require, Inspiring Lives has renovated a home in the community that is custom to be able to house individuals with harmful behaviors. Experienced staff are trained to work with individuals struggling with challenging, active self-harm behavior. From specialized furniture to the layout of the house, the setting is as safe as possible in order to prevent an individual from harming themselves as well as anyone around them. The daily routine is also very structured, helping in decreasing the stress level of individuals while they practice healthy living skills. Each person’s crisis plan remains highly individualized and evolves with them as they work toward their goals of more independent behavior management. Inspiring Lives also collaborates with other behavior modification services, including I-START.
